Pet Door Installation in Sliding Doors
Two real options for getting Fido in and out: insert-panel (no glass cut, cheaper, removable) or through-glass (permanent, integrated, more durable). Speedy installs both. See our complete Florida sliding door guide for the deep dive on everything we fix. We’ll help you pick — and we partner with glaziers we trust for the through-glass cut when needed.

Insert-Panel Pet Door
A panel that sits in the track of your sliding door, replacing the glass when active. Pet door is built into the panel. No cuts to your existing door or glass. Cheaper, faster, fully reversible (great for rentals).
Brands: PetSafe, Ideal Pet, MaxSeal, Pet Door Products. Sized to fit small / medium / large / extra-large pets.

- 1 We measure your sliding door opening. Insert panels come in standard heights but are cut to your width.
- 2 You pick the pet door size + brand. We bring options. PetSafe is reliable mid-range. Endura Flap is premium with weather seal.
- 3 We cut and install the panel. Goes in the existing track. The original door panel stays in place; the insert panel is the “active” door.
- 4 You can remove it any time. Tenant-friendly. Take it with you when you move. Easy to pop out if you want full glass for a party.
The permanent, integrated route.
Through-glass pet doors are cut into the actual glass of your sliding door. The result looks fully integrated and is more secure than an insert panel. See our complete Florida sliding door guide for the deep dive on everything we fix. We do the door operation and trim work; we partner with glaziers for the actual glass cut and tempered-glass replacement.
Total timeline: 1–2 weeks. Glazier orders custom tempered glass with the pre-cut hole, ships in ~10 business days, then we coordinate same-day with the glazier for swap + pet door install.
Total cost: Pet door + install: $700–$1,200. Tempered glass with the cut: $600–$1,500 depending on door size. Combined: usually $1,300–$2,500.

Insert-panel or through-glass?
Insert-panel for renters, smaller pets, lower budget, hurricane-rated glass. Through-glass for permanent homeowners, medium/large dogs, premium aesthetic.
Will it affect my AC efficiency?
Modern pet doors (PetSafe, Endura) seal well when closed. Energy loss is minimal. Cheap pet doors leak air; we don’t install those.
Will it affect my hurricane rating?
Insert-panel: no. Through-glass on impact-rated glass: yes, usually voids the rating. We tell you upfront.
Can it be locked from the inside?
Yes — all modern pet doors have a manual lock-out slide for security or to keep pets in.
Microchip / electronic options?
Yes — SureFlap and PetSafe SmartDoor open only for collared/microchipped pets. About $150–$250 more than standard.
