Sliding Door Repair in St. Augustine, FL โ Island to Golf Village.
St. Augustine wears out sliding doors three different ways. On Anastasia Island, salt air and blown dune sand go after the rails and roller bearings. In the old city, many sliders were added to older houses long after they were built, and the fit drifts as the house moves. Out at World Golf Village and Palencia, many of the original builder rollers are wearing out for the first time. Speedy serves St. Augustine from our First Coast runs with parts for all three on the truck. We come to you โ you only pay when it glides.
What our customers say on Google
“He did a great job. Very professional and polite. I would recommend him to anyone.”
“Door works easier now.”
Salt, settling and tired builder rollers.
An island slider, a door added to a 1920s house and a builder door in a newer golf community usually fail for different reasons. We work out which one you have, then fix it with parts carried on the truck. Most repairs finish in one visit.
Roller Replacement
Builder-grade wheels in World Golf Village and Palencia homes, and salt-stiffened ones on the island, replaced with sealed-bearing rollers sized to your panel so it moves with one hand again.

Island rails crusted with salt and fine dune sand get cleaned out, straightened and capped in stainless where the aluminum has worn thin, so the wheels stop grinding near the beach.

Gritty rails, latches that miss, and builder wheels gone flat.
Where your house sits in St. Augustine usually tells us what's wrong with the slider before we even lift the panel out.
Roller Replacement in St. Augustine
Signs: the door takes two hands, it rumbles across the sill, and the bottom edge scrapes.
Many homes in World Golf Village, Murabella and around St. Johns Golf & Country Club went up from the late 1990s on with the builder's standard rollers: plastic wheels on small steel bearings. Those wheels carry a heavy glass panel every time someone heads out back, and a lot of them are now wearing out for the first time. The door that once slid with a finger starts to need a shove, then sinks and scrapes. A wide lanai slider puts even more weight on each wheel, so those usually go first. We lift the panel out, check the housings, fit sealed-bearing rollers rated for the weight and set the height so the lock lines up again. If a wheel has already cracked, we check the rail under it for gouges too.
A typical St. Augustine job: worn builder rollers on a golf-community lanai slider swapped for sealed-bearing wheels, with the panel leveled.
Track Repair & Installation in St. Augustine
Signs: a gritty crunch as it rolls, a white crust on the rail, and a door that jumps the track.
On Anastasia Island a slider deals with two things at once. Salt air settles on the bare aluminum rail and slowly pits it, and the wind carries fine sand off the dunes into the channel. Mixed together, they turn into a gritty paste that grinds down the rail and the wheels riding on it. Davis Shores sits on marshland filled in the 1920s, and with so much of it close to the water, sills there tend to stay damp and salty. Along A1A down toward Butler Beach, oceanfront doors usually take the most sand. We clean out the channel, straighten bent spots and cap a pitted or thin rail in stainless, then fit rollers that tolerate salt. Rinsing the channel with fresh water now and then slows the next round of buildup.
A typical St. Augustine job: a salt-crusted island rail cleaned, covered in stainless and fitted with salt-tolerant rollers.
Lock & Handle Repair in St. Augustine
Signs: the latch swings but misses, it only locks if you lift the handle, and a gap shows at the jamb.
Lincolnville's houses mostly date from about 1870 to 1930, and Nelmar Terrace grew up after 1913, well before sliding glass doors were common. So a slider in either neighborhood was usually added later, cut into an old wall or set into a back-room addition. Older wood-frame houses move a little over the years, and the door moves with them. Bit by bit the latch and its keeper drift out of line, until the door only locks if you lift the handle or lean on the panel. We reset the keeper to where the latch actually lands, replace a worn latch or handle, and can add a foot lock if you want a second line of security. If the panel itself has dropped, new rollers raise it back to latch height.
A typical St. Augustine job: a slider added to an older wood-frame house that only locked when lifted, with the keeper reset so it catches.

Signs: a draft at the bottom corner, rain getting past the sill, and a door that fights you both ways.
Fullerwood mixes 1920s bungalows with post-war houses, and across the Bridge of Lions, Davis Shores has plenty of homes from the 1950s through the 70s. Many of their sliders were added in a remodel or are older aluminum units, and by now they tend to be worn everywhere at once. South of town, St. Augustine Shores has many homes from the 1970s and 80s with doors in the same shape. First comes a free inspection of the whole door, then one estimate that covers all of it. We replace the rollers, clean and repair the track, service the latch, square the panel in its opening and renew the weatherstrip so it seals against wind-driven rain. Your glass and frame stay where they are.
A typical St. Augustine job: an older slider that leaked at the sill and fought both ways, re-rolled, realigned and resealed.

Three St. Augustines, one truck.
Speedy serves St. Augustine from our First Coast runs. Island salt, older houses and newer builder doors each call for different parts, so we pack for all three before we head north.
Island-ready parts
Sealed-bearing rollers and stainless rail covers ride along for Anastasia Island doors, so salt and sand damage gets fixed with parts that hold up near the beach.
Fit for older openings
When a slider was added to an older house, very little about it is standard. We measure the rollers, check the opening for square and set the latch where it really lands.
Fix it, don't replace it
A builder door in a 2000s golf-community home or a decades-old add-on slider usually comes back with fresh rollers, a clean track and a reset latch. We repair the slider you already have.
A time window, confirmed
St. Augustine sits at the north end of our area. We book visits around our First Coast runs, and we confirm a time window when you book so you can plan the day.
Why St. Augustine sliding doors are different.
St. Augustine is really three slider markets in one city. On Anastasia Island, from Davis Shores down to Butler Beach, salt air and sand off the dunes wear down rails and roller bearings. In the old city, the houses came first and the sliders came later. Lincolnville's homes mostly date from about 1870 to 1930, and Fullerwood and Nelmar Terrace took much of their shape in the 1910s and 20s, so a sliding glass door there was usually cut into an old wall or added with a back room. Those doors sit in openings that have shifted with the house, which shows up as latches that miss and panels that drift. Then there's the newer St. Augustine west and north of town: World Golf Village, Murabella, St. Johns Golf & Country Club and Palencia, built from the late 1990s on. The frames there are usually fine, but many of the original builder rollers are now wearing out for the first time. Before we come, we ask which St. Augustine you live in.
What a typical St. Augustine job looks like: a slider added to an older house years ago, dragging and locking only when lifted, back to a one-hand glide in one visit with new rollers, a cleaned rail and a reset keeper.
St. Augustine areas we serve
Straight answers for St. Augustine doors.
Our golf-community slider was easy for years and now it's heavy. Is it the rollers?
Usually. Builder-grade wheels in homes from the late 1990s and 2000s are wearing out for the first time. We fit sealed-bearing rollers sized to the panel and level it. See Roller Replacement in St. Augustine.
We're on Anastasia Island and the track feels like sandpaper. Can it be saved?
Most of the time. Salt and dune sand grind the rail down, so we clean and straighten it, and cap it in stainless when the aluminum is too far gone. See Track Repair & Installation in St. Augustine.
Our slider was added to an older house and only locks if we lift the handle. Why?
The house has likely moved a little since the door went in, so the latch and keeper no longer line up. We line the keeper back up with the latch, and swap the latch too if it's worn. See Lock & Handle Repair in St. Augustine.
Our old slider drafts, leaks at the sill and sticks. Repair it or start over?
Usually repair. Those are worn rollers, tired weatherstrip and an out-of-square panel, and all of it is fixable. We start with a free inspection and price the whole door in one estimate. See Full Sliding Door Restoration in St. Augustine.
Do you really come up to St. Augustine?
Yes. St. Augustine sits at the north end of the area we cover, so we schedule visits here around our First Coast runs. Same-day isn't something we promise this far north, but we confirm a time window when you book and carry common parts on the truck. If your door needs a special-order part, we tell you at the estimate.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?
Yes: 1-year warranty on parts.
How much does sliding door repair cost in St. Augustine?
It depends on what's worn, so we look first and the estimate is free. Most single-door roller jobs fall under our Glide Restore package: new rollers plus a full panel tune-up. Track work, heavy or impact glass and special-order parts are priced at the estimate. You approve the price before any work starts, and you pay only when it glides. 1-year warranty on parts.
